Iran may deploy more advanced, fourth-generation missiles in upcoming attacks against Israel, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported, citing an informed source.
The agency quoted the source as stating: “Iran’s arsenal includes sophisticated missiles such as the Fateh-2, the new generation Sejjil, and the two-ton Khorramshahr, which could be used in potential future attacks.”
Statistics suggest that the Fateh-2 missiles are hypersonic with a range of up to 1,400 kilometers. The range of the Sejjil ballistic missiles varies between 2,000 and 2,500 kilometers. As for Khorramshahr missiles, they have four generations, the latest of which is named Kheibar and boasts a range of 2,000 kilometers.
In a related context, Ali Saeedi, head of political and ideological affairs in the Iranian Armed Forces, affirmed that Iran used older generation missiles in its response to Israel, indicating that its latest missiles have not yet been deployed.
Iranian media outlets quoted a source stating that Iran’s strikes on Israel utilized Emad, Ghadr, and Kheibar Shekan medium-range ballistic missiles. Iran’s state broadcaster also claimed that Iranian forces used hypersonic missiles.
The Emad ballistic missile can carry a 750-kilogram payload and has a range of up to 1,700 kilometers. The maximum range of the Kheibar Shekan missile is approximately 1,500 kilometers, while the Ghadr missile has a range of about 2,000 kilometers.
On the night of June 13, Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion,” targeting Iran’s nuclear program. In less than 24 hours, the Islamic Republic carried out a retaliatory attack. Israel and Iran have since escalated their exchange of strikes over three days, with hostilities ongoing.
