ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our somewhat split weather weekend continues on Sunday, thanks to a stalled front to our south. Much like Saturday, Sunday will feature more sun north of the Thruway, with a mostly cloudy sky south. The best chance of a spotty shower will likely be in the Finger Lakes, but the majority of Father’s Day will be dry. So, if you have outdoor plans with dad outside, enjoy! Just grab the sunscreen if you’re north of the Thruway. Temperatures will also be a few degrees milder than Saturday, putting most of us within a few degrees of 70.
Speaking of warmer, our weather will be turning much warmer for the last few days of spring, and likely for the start of summer. Getting into the details: Monday and Tuesday will feature a mix of clouds and sun, with mainly dry weather. Dew points will begin to climb into the 60s on Tuesday, which will bump up our humidity, and allow a few isolated showers or thunder to developing during peak heating. We’ll see a much better chance for some storms by Wednesday and Thursday ahead of and along a cold front set to move through. Humidity will also climb, with dew points possibly into the lower 70s, which would make it feel tropical, and allow for some heavy rain in any storms that do fire mid-week.
Thursday’s cold front will only drop our temperatures a few degrees into the upper 70s, but there will be a noticeable drop in humidity on Friday, making it feel much more comfortable. There are some indications that we crank up the heat big time by NEXT weekend, with temperatures soaring through the 80s, with dew points in the 60s and 70s, making it feel uncomfortable. If this pattern comes to fruition, we could be flirting with our first 90 degree day of the season by next weekend or into the following week.
