Turki Alalshikh is set to put boxing’s best new young talent on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford.
Alvarez and Crawford will meet in the biggest boxing event of the year on September 13 in Las Vegas, with the event set to be broadcast to millions on streaming service Netflix.
It will be a huge platform created by the pair, who will search for pound-for-pound supremacy and a legacy as a boxing great when they meet.
The event will be promoted by Dana White, who has made the switch from UFC to make his own boxing league, alongside Saudi boxing chief Alalshikh.
White’s league will launch with the pay-per-view event and they hope to sign boxing’s next big talents to their roster to launch their own franchise which mirrors the American’s success with the UFC.
And Alalshikh has pleaded for 10 of boxing’s next big stars including world champion Junto Nakatani to reach out and fight on the card.
“The world will watch Riyadh Season’s Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight of the century on Netflix,” he said.
“I want to load the undercard with young, hungry fighters who deserve to perform under the bright lights.
“These are my picks for September 13, led by The Ring champion Junto Nakatani: Christian Mbilli, Mohammed Alakel, Reito Tsutsumi, Justin Viloria, Emiliano Alvarado, Jamar Talley, Abdullah Mason, Nishant Dev. If interested, you and your teams know how to reach me.”
Nakatani is a household name having recently unified the bantamweight division with a devastating stoppage win over Ryosuke Nishida.
He is pursuing an undisputed showdown with Naoya Inoue at super-bantamweight, but that is of course unlikely to land on the bill.
Mbilli is a highly ranked super-middleweight who will be pushing for a shot at the belts held by the winner of Alvarez’s tilt with Crawford.
As a result, Aalshikh wants the best young stars to feature on the billGettyThe talented 28-0 star is looking for his big push into stardom, and an appearance on the mega bill will boost his name no end.
Abdullah Mason is also a highly touted prospect at the age of 21, with many tipping him to reach the top of the sport.
It would be a perfect opportunity for fighters to earn their place in the minds of the boxing fraternity.
Canelo vs Crawford is set to be broadcast to an audience of around 300 million viewers, and could eye records set by Jake Paul’s bout with Mike Tyson last November.
It will be a huge spectacle and the magnitude of the event has even been compared to Floyd Mayweather’s 2015 super-fight with Manny Pacquiao.
And promoter of the show White believes it will be one of the biggest events of the year and in boxing history.
