UK insider Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio shared Tuesday that athletic department leadership did not realize Marrow was leaving until Thamel broke the news on social media.
Source tells me that UK Athletics Leadership did not find out Vince Marrow in talks or leaving for Louisville until the @PeteThamel tweet yesterday
— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) June 10, 2025Marrow’s unexpected departure had Big Blue Nation reflecting on the longtime assistant’s connections to other opportunities in the rumor mill over the years. Per Jones, major Kentucky donors were also unaware that Marrow was looking to make a move in the middle of the offseason.
I also am told the major UK Football donors were not aware of Marrow’s departure either Looks like Vince decided to do it without anyone in Lexington being informed (Except the one guy on the text machine apparently)
— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) June 10, 2025It’s going to take a while for everyone to get used to Marrow on the other side of the Governor’s Cup rivalry and sporting Cardinal Red. For now, BBN will be closely following Stoops’ move to replace his right-hand man.
Kentucky did not have advance knowledge of Vince Marrow departure, per UK insider Saturday Down South.
