PHOENIX — Arizona Diamondbacks closer Justin Martinez left Monday’s ballgame against the Seattle Mariners with the athletic trainer, another potentially gutting moment for the club depending on what caused him to exit.
Martinez struck out the first two batters as he entered to preserve a 4-0 lead at Chase Field.
After walking Dylan Moore, Martinez threw two pitches to Donovan Solano before stepping away from the mound and calling out to the dugout.
