COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – New guidance released from the Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) on June 4 now allows dispensaries throughout Ohio to sell higher limits of certain products.
Employees at Nar Reserve, a dispensary located in Downtown Columbus, said they were surprised by the new DCC guidelines, particularly on their ability to sell higher quantities of flowers per day. One employee, Darius Walters, stated that there was a process in place for making that adjustment.
“We have limits to make sure we don't make any mistakes,” he said. “So, we upped those limits so we can take care of those people.”
Last week, the DCC rolled out the change in sales limits for dispensaries' non-medical sales, referring to the statutory per-day transaction limit, which comes out to 2.5 ounces per day, more than twice the previous one-ounce limit. For the Nar Reserve staff, the phasing in of that new guideline was taxing.
“We took an extra 24 hours to make sure that we had our equipment ready, our debit card readers ready, be able to accept that kind of amount in our process system and be able to actually accept that kind of quantity,” Walters said.
In a statement, the DCC said, in part, “When the non-medical program came online, there were lower limits on non-medical sales, which was primarily to help ensure there was an adequate supply for medical patients. A subsequent review of the available inventory data supports this increase adjustment up to the statutory limits identified in the statute."

“We hope to see that THC limits go up,” Walters said. “I hope to see that people will have more ability to market it and let them (customers) know educationally what's available to them. So, I hope to see those changes.”
According to the DCC, dispensaries can also allow customers to buy up to 15,000 mg per day of THC between vapes, edibles and other products.
