For the first time in Sister Wives history, viewers learned intimate details of the sex life of one of the show's biggest stars. One of the TLC show's leading ladies spilled heartbreaking details of her intimacy issues with Kody Brown, calling sex "just an act."
Christine Brown sat down with one-on-one host Sukanya Krishnan to reveal, for the first time, details of her sex life with ex-Kody. This particular subject has remained taboo for 19 seasons of the TLC series, as the former polygamist family's religious beliefs forbade them from discussing that aspect of their relationships.
"For a long time it was just fun, it was a blast. We had a lot of good times," Christine admitted in a clip posted to Facebook.
But then she realized, "There is definitely something missing here. But at that point [the marriage] was already almost over already. There was never a true intimacy. He never took care of me emotionally, romantically, physically, financially. I was independent."

When Krishnan questioned Christine by asking of "the sex was just an act," Christine responded yes, their intimacy was "just an act. No real emotion behind it or anything."
She continued, "Maybe we just used each other. It didn't mean anything. It was apathetic. It was just a physical need that was met. The sex, it was broken."
Christine concluded, "We did not talk about it because we just knew there was something missing. When you have sex five times in a year, you realize there's a problem. We had one conversation on intimacy and I asked him if we were going to have an intimate marriage and he said 'no.'"
Shortly thereafter, Christine moved Kody out of their home. She told him, "You're not staying over here anymore. I don't want you in my bed. We're done."
Her statements echoed Kody's remarks during season 18, where he admitted during a conversation with Robyn Brown and Meri Brown, "the act is easy" after she said she wasn't going to make somebody act the way they didn't want to act. Meri's hurt response was palatable.
The scene was replayed during season 18's talk back episodes. Meri's friend Jen Sullivan and Christine gasped after Kody made that statement.
