Inclusive event
The City of Cupertino is holding a ribbon-cutting at Jollyman Park on Friday, June 13, at 1 p.m. for the new all-inclusive playground. This playground is designed to be accessible for individuals of all ages and abilities, promoting recreation and social interaction for people with and without special needs.
Jollyman Park is located at 1000 S. Stelling Road.
The reading game
The Santa Clara County Library District is encouraging patrons to press “start” on its summer reading program, “Level Up at Your Library,” at its branch libraries including Cupertino.
Library patrons can register at sccl.beanstack.com/reader365 to earn a prize for reading five books and completing an activity. “Level Up at Your Library” runs through July 31. Completion prizes will be available Aug. 1-31 while supplies last. For more information, visit sccld.org/summer
League elects officers
The League of Women Voters Cupertino-Sunnyvale elected new officers and directors at their annual meeting on May 17.
Tracey Edwards and Polly Bove are the league’s co-presidents for the term ending in 2027. Debbie Timmers is secretary, and Beth Claywell is treasurer. The vice president’s seat was open as of this writing.
Pamela Anderson is the new director of voter service, Nina Wong-Dobkin is Membership director and Marilyn Sherry is heading up the online access team.
Aryaa Vijayakar is director of social media; Meagan McLeod, communications. Bruce Kendall is the new technical services director. Bill Wilson, Elaine Manley and Sandi Spires are directors at large. The resources director seat was open as of this writing.
Tara Sreekrishnan was named chair of the nominating committee; Rosa Kim and Naomi Nakano-Matsumoto, committee members.
