A POPULAR restaurant and rival to Hooters has permanently closed down its last location in a state after nearly 10 years.
While Hooters undergoes turmoil of its own, this sports bar has left behind regular customers who have since mourned its loss.
The trend of having staff walk around without much clothing on isn’t just a Hooters thing, it’s also something adopted by the sports bar Twin Peaks.
The bar has recently shut down its last location in the state of California, in Sacramento.
It is not known why the location shut, but it has occupied the same spot for nearly a decade.
Regulars could find it at the Arden Arcade before the announcement on Monday hit.
It was reavealed in a caption on the social media platform Instagram.
said: “To our fans, we thank you for nearly 10 years of joining us for the “food, fun, cold beer & sports”.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we must share that Twin Peaks Sacramento is now permanently closed.
“Thank you and be well.”
SHOCKED CUSTOMERS
recieved a dissapointed reaction from customers, who were not expecting the Sacramento spot to vanish.
One person said: “I don’t wanna find a new football spot!”
Another added: “Such a bummer. Was a great place to get a cold beer and talk with the locals and ladies.
“Best of luck to all! Gonna miss Moona and Claudia, Alex and Sabrina good luck towards the future gang!!!”
And a third was shocked at the abrupt nature of the closure.
They wrote: “Just like that? Not even a final celebration.”
BRANDS HARD HIT BY BANKRUPTCIES
Many chains have struggled to adapt to a post-Covid retail landscape, with several companies filing for bankruptcy
JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts announced it would close all 800 stores after filing for bankruptcy twice in a year.
Hooters announced plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February.
Liberated Brands announced that it would be closing all 122 retail locations for its boardsport fashion brands Quiksilver, Billabong, and Volcom.
Forever 21 shut down its headquarters after filing for bankruptcy and laying off 358 employees.
Macy’s announced major restructuring plans amid mass store closures.
Twin Peaks still ooperates nearly 100 restaurants across the US.
Most of its footprint can be found in Texas and parts of the South, Southwest and Midwest.
HOOTERS TROUBLE
Over at its rival, Hooters also announced a shock closure recently, as reported by The US Sun.
The iconic US chain announed the closure of 30 locations, affecting diners in states like Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
It comes as a surprise to fans given that Hooters had not hinted at any shutdowns despite the financial challenges it had been going through.
Themain hint the company had given as to what direction it was heading in was a statement that it was “evaluating the company’s operational footprint”.
A Hooter’s spokesperson told The US Sun: “Importantly, Hooters is here to stay, and by optimizing our business in support of our long-term goals, Hooters will be well-positioned to continue our iconic legacy under a pure franchise business model.
“We are committed to supporting our impacted team members throughout this process and are incredibly grateful to our valued customers for their loyalty and dedication to the Hooters brand.”
But they did add that the closure move was a “difficult decision”.
