Virat Kohli was not looking confident in the IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings as he scored 43 runs off 35 deliveries. Kohli’s innings put his team behind in the first phase of the RCB’s innings. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra pointed out Kohli’s slowish knock in the final.
Kohli was unable to increase the pace of the innings, and after facing 35 deliveries, he fell prey to Azmatullah Omarzoi in the IPL 2025 final against the Punjab Kings.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra highlighted the RCB’s score as they scored 190 runs, and their opener batted for almost six overs, and his strike-rate was around 120, and was slightly behind eight balls as he was not playing at a good pace.
"Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed Virat Kohli. He ran and took the catch as well. Virat was going a little slow. It's true that if 190 runs are scored, and your strike rate is around 120, obviously, at that point in time, you start feeling that he is slightly behind the eight ball, that he is not running at that pace," Aakash Chopra stated on his YouTube channel.
But Kohli’s slowish knock didn’t prove counterproductive in the end of the match as RCB easily defeated PBKS by six runs. Aakas Chopra praised Kohli by calling him the destiny’s child, as whenever Kohli plays the final of any tournament, his best comes out in the match.
"However, I always call Virat the destiny's child. He might not have scored runs in the entire tournament, but he comes to the final, becomes the Player of the Match, and wins that World Cup (T20 World Cup 2024). If it's a World Cup match against Pakistan, it brings the best out of him. All things happen in such a way that Virat Kohli is always there. Sometimes, it's in your destiny, and that's exactly what happened," Chopra added.
Virat Kohli calls out ABD and Chris Gayle
After winning the IPL title, Kohli called out his former teammates AB De Villiers and Chris Gayle, as the trio played together for many years and couldn’t hold back their emotions when RCB lifted their maiden IPL title.
The trio were chanting a new version of ‘Ee sala cup namde’ (this time the cup will be ours) to ‘Ee sala cup namdu’ (The cup is ours).
Aakash Chopra lauds Rajat Patidar
Aakash Chopra praised Rajat Patidar for his right moves in the entire season, as Patidar was top-notch on the field against PBKS. Patidar’s energy and his bowling changes never look like a short experience.
Patidar is a massive investment by RCB as they retained him ahead of this season and handed him the captaincy of the team. Patidar proved himself by winning the IPL title in his first stint.
