Serie A minnows Como have shut down rumours that manager Cesc Fabregas is set to take over at Inter.
Reports in Italy claimed that Fabregas had agreed to replace Simone Inzaghi as Inter boss after the Italian announced his exit on Tuesday ahead of a lucrative switch to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Fabregas is reportedly keen to take over at the San Siro and views the move as the perfect career step-up.
The 38-year-old is believed to have spoken with Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta over the phone to discuss the potential move.
But Como president Mirwan Suwarso has since poured cold water on the claims and says the former Arsenal and Chelsea ace is going nowhere.
“We have a long term project and Cesc Fabregas is a crucial part of it. He won’t leave the club,” Suwarso insisted.
Fabregas has impressed since taking over at Como – a club he steered to promotion from Serie B 12 months ago.
The Spaniard led Como to a respectable 10th-place finish in Serie A cementing his blossoming reputation as a coach.
Fabregas took over as interim boss in November 2023 before he was handed the reins on a full-time basis in July 2024.
His impressive work with the Italian minnows saw Fabregas heavily linked with the Bayer Leverkusen top job before the Bundesliga side eventually opted for Erik ten Hag.
Roma were also interested in the 38-year-old before securing Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini instead.
If an agreement can be arranged for Fabregas to move to the San Siro then he will be immediately tasked with lifting morale following Inter’s 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday’s Champions League final in Munich.

Inter were beaten by city rivals AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup in January before the Rossoneri got the better of them again, this time in the Coppa Italia.
Inter were then pipped to the League title by Napoli before crumbling in the Champions League final.
That has led to a quick changing of the guard at the San Siro with Inter opting for a youthful approach at the helm heading into next season.
There may be financial hurdles to overcome if Inter are to get their man meaning a shortlist of other candidates has been drawn up.
Genoa boss Patrick Vieira, who played for Inter between 2006 and 2010, is of interest as is another former player in Cristian Chivu who is in charge of Parma.
