Skanska completes $38m Florida high school expansion
Skanska has completed the $38m, 45,000-sq-ft expansion of Newsome High School in Lithia, Hillsborough County, Florida, to a design by Hepner Architects.

The project involved building a new school auditorium with seating for 1,000 – double the size of the old one.

Skanska renovated the old one into classroom and storage space for the school’s band, orchestra, drama and vocal programmes.

The contractor also overhauled Newsome’s old weight room into a 7,000-sq-ft multidisciplinary athletic training facility and a 2,000-sq-ft wrestling facility.

The new spaces can accommodate 3,200 students for the growing student population.

“We are excited to deliver so many new and upgraded facilities to the students, faculty and staff of Newsome High School,” said Daniel Abou-Jaoude, Vice President at Skanska.

Skanska now has $400m worth of work in Florida school projects.
