AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin firefighters put out an east Austin house fire that killed two people Monday morning, according to the Austin Fire Department.
The home was located in the 3000 block of Pecan Springs Rd.
AFD received the call about a trash fire around 1:20 a.m. The call was upgraded to a house fire shortly after.
When emergency responders arrived to the home, they estimated that 75% of the home was ablaze, AFD said. An AFD commander at the scene told KXAN that flames were seen to reach 30 feet in the air.
The flames ended up engulfing the home, AFD said.

(Courtesy: Austin Fire Department)Firefighters rescued one resident from the home while another resident escaped one their own, according to AFD. First responders, including Austin-Travis EMS personnel, performed CPR on one of the residents. Despite attempted life-saving measures, that resident died at the scene around 2 a.m.
Firefighters also found the body of another resident inside the home. According to AFD, the two deceased residents were the parents of the third resident.
At 2:42 a.m., AFD reported that crews had put out the fire.
AFD's arson investigators and Austin Police Department homicide detectives conduct initial investigations in fatal fire cases. The cause of this fire has not yet be known
