THERE is a bidding war erupting behind the scenes for ESPN’s golden girl Ashley ShahAhmadi.
The highly respected dual-threat sideline reporter is drawing interest from major outlets including Amazon Prime and NBC.
ShahAhmadi is known for her razor-sharp insights, eloquence and depth.
And she has become a fan favourite among ESPN viewers for her coverage of the SEC alongside Dave Neal and Aaron Murray.
She stole the show during the SEC Championship Game between Georgia and Texas in December 2024 and her stock has only continued to rise since.
Both NBC and Prime have been aggressively expanding their NBA coverage talent pool and don’t want to miss out on one of the game’s fastest-rising stars.
In other major news NBC recently announced that Michael Jordan will serve as a “special contributor”.
With the network returning to NBA game coverage for the first time since 2002.
NBC has also brought on former Knicks star Carmelo Anthony and is reviving its iconic 1990s anthem, Roundball Rock.
While ESPN boasts a deep bench of NBA talent heading into next season it may have to watch one of its most respected sideline reporters head to a rival network.
The network also faces key decisions on the looming free agency of Malika Andrews and Brian Windhorst.
Clearly, ESPN has its hands full if it hopes to retain some of the most recognizable faces on its airwaves.
