The viral clip was posted on social media and met with rage from one user who called the bizarre practice a “waste of corporate money“.

In the footage, a shopper is seen filming two staff members who are checking their trolley.

The employees begin to check each item one-by-one before emptying the entire trolley onto the floor.

One takes a note of each item by marking the receipt, while the other appears to count and read aloud the name of each purchase.

The video is overlayed with text saying: “Never been so embarrassed. I use Walmart all the time for my food and cakes.

“Forced me back through Walmart to check my receipt.”

The customer also said that their food was put “on the floor”.

The user who uploaded the footage said: “Walmart customer detained and double-checked that she paid.”

They questioned the store, saying: “Is this acceptable customer service?”

One baffled shopper replied: “What a waste of corporate money!

“It takes two people to check your receipt with your purchase. Why not just have cashiers check you out and save all the animosity?”

They added: “Walmart isn’t winning customers with this type of thing.”

It comes after Walmart shoppers were left speechless after a worker revealed a hidden hack to speed up scanning at self-checkout.

One customer gasped, “I’m not crazy”, after discovering the barcode trick that makes grocery trips a breeze.

And the retail giant also confirmed a major new payment change coming to stores that will transform healthcare shopping.

The new digital innovations will allow customers to identify the products they need for the plans they are on.

As the first-of-its-kind, shoppers can track benefits spending in real time, and will be able to filter search results to include benefits-eligible items.

This will greatly streamline the shopping experience for those who need to buy specific things.
