DUI suspected in crash that killed motorcyclist in Fullerton

A motorcyclist was killed early Saturday, May 31 in a crash that led to two arrests on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, police said.

Around midnight, officers responded to reports of a collision near the intersection of North Euclid Street and West Bastanchury Road, according to the Fullerton Police Department. They found a Harley Davidson motorcycle with major damage and its adult male rider suffering from serious injuries.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found that a Chevrolet Tahoe towing a recreational trailer had been traveling eastbound on West Bastanchury Road when it experienced a mechanical issue and came to a stop in the center median. A man attempted to reverse the vehicle, causing the SUV and trailer to jack-knife across the westbound lanes, where the motorcyclist collided with the trailer.

Both the female driver and the man who attempted to move the vehicle were arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said.

    No further details were provided.

The motorcyclist’s identity has not been released.
