Watch: Babar Azam engages in ugly physical fight with fans on street

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam and his father have continued to make headlines with their antics amid the ongoing white-ball series against Bangladesh at home. While Babar Azam’s father is involved in a war of words with Kamran Akmal, the star batter has found himself in a bad light.

Babar and Pakistani fans have crossed all the lines, as they were almost involved in a physical altercation on the road. The right-handed batter is currently out of Pakistan’s T20I team; he now only features in ODIs and Tests after the changes following the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

However, it is not clear whether the Pakistan fans have taunted Babar over his T20I omission or place in the white-ball teams, but the viral video showed that the former captain got into a heated argument with some fans in the middle of the street.

The shocking yet graceless incident drew a crowd, and Babar was seen surrounded by people during the heated confrontation. As the Pakistani batter tried to walk away, he almost raised his hand towards the fans. Visibly angry, Babar looked furious while making his way out of the crowd.

In the video, Babar can also be seen gesturing aggressively with his hands and even pushing a young fan aside. Now, the clip of the incident has been spreading like wildfire, and fans have been slamming Azam for lowering his standards. While many fans trolled him, some have called him Street Babar.

What's the controversy between Babar Azam's father and Kamran Akmal?

Meanwhile, Babar Azam's father, Azam Siddique, is also in the headlines. Well, the controversy erupted when Kamran Akmal said that Azam should only play Test cricket and doesn't fit in white-ball formats. He made these comments on a podcast while discussing Babar and Mohammad Rizwan’s exclusion from the T20I squad.

Akmal said, as quoted by CricketPakistan, “In my opinion, they should now be kept only for Test matches. Maybe after another six months, they should be considered only for Test cricket.”

Babar’s father didn’t take it lightly and hit back at Akmal on social media. He shared an old photo of Babar and Akmal, taking a subtle jab at the latter by calling him jealous and a failed player.

Siddique captioned the post, “Talking behind the backs of successful people is a compulsion of those who have failed,” along with a Turkish proverb: “If someone says they are your brother, they should also clarify whether they are like Habil or Qabil,”—a reference to the biblical story of Cain and Abel.

Stay within your limits: Kamran Akmal tells Babar’s father

Now, Kamran Akmal hit back strongly at Babar’s father for his remarks. He warned him against spreading false stories and asked him to speak only with facts. Akmal said he has always represented Pakistan with pride and dignity and never felt jealous of anyone.

He reminded Babar’s father to stay within limits and choose his words carefully, saying that respect can be lost if such behavior continues. Akmal also added that cricket is about performance, not personal agendas, and asked for honesty instead of indirect comments.

Kamran posted on social media, “My parents have raised us to never be jealous of anyone, and Alhamdulillah, I’ve proudly represented my country and performed with dignity. Next time, please choose your words more carefully. There are clear boundaries, and you’ve crossed them more than once. Stay within your limits.”
