Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is back open after snowplow crews spent weeks battling wind and snow to clear the high-country segment of U.S. 34.
The park announced the reopening on Friday on social media after sharing that the roadway would remain closed through Memorial Day because of the weather.
Trail Ridge Road is shut down every year during the winter snow season and historically reopens in late May.
Its crest at 12,183 feet makes it the highest continuous paved road in the country, according to the National Park Service.
