The city of Greeley will host a fishing derby from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 7, at Sanborn Park, 28th Avenue and 20th Street.
The annual fishing derby is free and is for ages 5 years old and older. A fishing license is not required. Participants will need to bring their own pole and tackle.
A Greeley Recreation tent will be set up at the derby with sign-ups to win various prizes. The derby is sponsored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Danny Juarez Foundation.
Juarez died in 2008 at the age of 36. He was born in Greeley and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loveland. He co-founded the Northern Colorado Latino Chamber of Commerce.
