(KRON) -- Two pedestrians were struck by a hit-and-run driver in San Jose early Friday morning, according to the San Jose Police Department. One of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police responded at 2:46 a.m. to the area of West Virginia Street and Almaden Avenue on the report of a major injury vehicle collision. Arriving officers learned that a vehicle had struck two pedestrians before fleeing the scene.
The suspect driver was located and arrested a short time after, SJPD said. The suspect’s name was not immediately released by police.
One of the pedestrians was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Streets in the area remain shut down as investigators are on scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
