IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A heavy police presence has been reported off Interstate-77 in the Statesville area Thursday after shots were fired in the area.
Just after 2:20 p.m. Thursday, May 29, a shooting was reported on Wall Street, close to I-77.
The Iredell Emergency Communications Center has confirmed the incident, and law enforcement is currently at the scene.
Thankfully, there are no reported injuries at this time. It's still unclear exactly what happened, and authorities have not confirmed whether any shots were fired at police officers.
"Troopers are assisting in setting up a perimeter in that area to help local law enforcement with a shooting," NC State Highway Patrol confirmed with Queen City News.
