On season 2 of The Rehearsal, Nathan Fielder tried to figure out why planes crash. He gave us the idea that if a co-pilot could feel comfortable talking to the pilot, we could maybe avoid plane crashes as a whole.
During the show, Fielder examined “The Miracle on the Hudson” for its successful landing. He turned to Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger and rehearsed Sully’s entire life from birth to the “Miracle” in order to understand how Sully was able to listen to his co-pilot to successfully land the plane on the Hudson River. The episode ended with Fielder proposing the idea that Sully listened to Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life” in the 23 seconds of silence that exists on the recording of the cockpit.
