EA Sports revealed earlier this week that star wide receivers Ryan Williams and Jeremiah Smith would grace the cover of its College Football 26 video game. On Thursday, the game developer dropped its first official trailer for the new game.
The nearly 2-minute trailer showed off a number of aesthetic changes from last year’s game. The first thing fans will notice is the presence of real-life coaches in-game. Generic coaches led FBS programs in College Football 25. This year’s game will feature face scans for notable coaches; the trailer showed James Franklin at Penn State, Ryan Day at Ohio State, Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame, and Steve Sarkisian at Texas.
A press release from EA Sports promised the game would feature “over 2,700 new plays, thousands of athletes, and more than 300 real-world coaches bringing their true-to-life schemes.” Though they weren’t shown in the trailer, Oregon coach Dan Lanning and Georgia coach Kirby Smart are also confirmed to be in the game.
The trailer also showcases the addition of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” which is played at the start of every Virginia Tech game. EA Sports didn’t have the rights to the song for the College Football 25 title, but announced a partnership with the band in April.
It also looks as if drone light shows will be part of the pre-game presentation in the new game. And, following its removal from last year’s title, the ability to play high school games in Road to Glory is coming back.
EA Sports says over 160 new school-specific chants and 10 new PA tracks have been added to the game. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, David Pollock, and Desmond Howard provide commentary.
