DENVER (KDVR) - Extra clouds are across the Front Range for mid-week as storms can fire up Wednesday afternoon, becoming stronger as they push into the plains.
Because of these storms, a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued. As of 2 p.m., a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the I-25 corridor south of Denver and Limon until 8 p.m. Additionally, a tornado watch has been issued for the far eastern plains from about Limon down through Lamar and Springfield, as well as for western portions of Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle through 9 p.m.
The greatest risk of severe weather will be to the southeast of Denver.
Weather today: Afternoon storms
Extra clouds will linger through most of the day with temperatures staying below average in the upper 60s. Showers and storm will fire up in the afternoon, becoming stronger in the afternoon. There is a slight risk for severe storms in the southeastern corner of the state, with gusty winds and moderate hail.

Showers can linger overnight with cloudy skies sticking around. Winds can still be brisk before midnight, but it'll slow heading into Thursday morning. Seasonal overnight low temperatures will dip into the upper 40s.
Looking ahead: Warmer and drier into the weekend
Thursday has clouds through most of the day with some clearing later in the day. Highs Thursday will be in the low 70s with showers slowly pushing south, clearing later in the day. Friday has more sunshine for the second half of the day as highs climb into the lower 80s. Friday and Saturday has small chances for some afternoon showers and storms, better in the high country.
