Luke Humphries has revealed how he ended up with a walk-on song that he couldn’t stand.
The Leeds supporter is famous for currently rocking the Kaiser Chiefs’ ‘I Predict a Riot’, but only took up the anthem in 2024.
Before that it was Cake by the Ocean by DNCE, which Humphries wasn’t exactly a fan of.
Taking part in Agree to Disagree with SPORTbible, he and fellow darts great Luke Littler were asked to rank their walk-ons, and both went with Littler’s Pitbull number.
World champion Littler asked his rival how he ended up with Cake by the Ocean, and then bowed his head in embarrassment at the answer.
“Sky Sports,” Humphries replied. “They did me right up there didn’t they? Mugged me right off.
“But I think I’ve chosen a better one now and it’s definitely better than what it was before.”
Newbury-born Humphries is Leeds and proud, representing the Kaiser Chiefs and also Leeds United, wearing a special shirt after they won the Championship earlier this month.
Yet even he could admit ‘Greenlight’ by Pitbull is the superior tune.
“People are probably going to think it’s better than mine,” Humphries said. “It’s a great one isn’t it.
“I must admit I’d never heard your one before you played it at the worlds, when you hear it once it does get stuck in your head, you sing it through your head and you can’t get it out.
“I think it’s a good one, we’ve both got good ones now that I’ve changed my one.”
Littler couldn’t believe Sky set Humphries up with his previous song Littler’s walk-on has been iconic from day oneGettyLittler’s walk-on also has a lot more history, despite the world champion being just 18-years-old.
“[I’ve had it] since Wrestlemania 33, eight years ago now,” he explained.
“Every Wrestlemania has its own tune and Flo Rida sang it with LunchMoney Lewis and I was there right up in the stands.”
Wrestling fan Littler could have never imagined he’d be rubbing shoulders with Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull himself, but Humphries still tried to use the teen’s celebrity to book the talent.
“Is Pitbull coming down? He’s in Dublin,” Humphries asked, before Littler teased: “We’re sorting it!”
Unfortunately for Littler, Pitbull didn’t turn up in Dublin for the Premier League Darts, but the show has continued growing its massive audience anyway.
The finale will is next up at the O2 in London on May 29 and could pitch world No.1 Humphries against No.2 Littler for the £1million prize.
The pair will first have to make it through the semi-finals where Littler takes on Gerwyn Price and Humphries Nathan Aspinall.
