    Real Betis vs Chelsea predictions

It was a good weekend for Chelsea, who qualified for the Champions League courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

It was not quite a winner-takes-all encounter at kick-off at the City Ground, although due to results elsewhere, Forest would have secured that all-important top-five finish had they emerged triumphant.

Chelsea knew from the get-go that the addition of three points to their tally would be enough to guarantee a seat at Europe’s top table in 2025/26.

They were on the back foot for most of the opening half, but their defence held firm. Chelsea then took the lead through Levi Colwill soon after half-time, leaving Forest with a mountain to climb.

Chelsea’s away form since December has been suspect, but when it really mattered, they got the job done in front of opposition fans.

The Blues delivered a gutsy performance against Forest, and Enzo Maresca will be looking for more of the same on Wednesday.

It is rare you say this about a competition involving 36 teams, but the Conference League has been akin to a heads-or-tails contest for Chelsea this term. Lift the trophy and they will have won. Fall short – no matter the circumstances – and they will have lost.

Chelsea have been strong favourites to triumph ever since they booked their place in the tournament 12 months ago. They breezed through the league phase and have had little trouble in the knockouts. Of their 12 matches since the qualifiers, Chelsea have won 11.

It is true that Maresca’s men have not really been tested up to now, but that will not be the case in the final. Real Betis are an accomplished team, and it would be a mistake for Chelsea to underestimate them.

A sixth-place finish in La Liga is no mean feat, given that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are almost guaranteed to be in the top three. In this competition, the Spaniards edged out a handy Fiorentina side in the semis.

At the same time, the bookies are right to fancy Chelsea to come out on top at the Stadion Tarczynski Arena. If they do, this must go down as a positive first season at Stamford Bridge for Maresca, in spite of the teething problems he has encountered along the way.

Real Betis vs Chelsea betting tips

Real Betis and Chelsea are ready to lock horns in the final of the Conference League.

    Chelsea to win

There is no doubt that Champions League qualification was Chelsea’s principal aim at the beginning of this season, but adding a first trophy to the cabinet since 2021 is hugely important too.

More than any other English club, Chelsea have defined success almost solely by trophies over the last couple of decades. Whereas other teams wax lyrical about philosophies, Chelsea have made the pursuit of silverware their raison d’être.

That is why Todd Boehly and his investment partners will not win over the Stamford Bridge faithful unless they start delivering tangible prizes.

This could be the first. Real Betis ended the La Liga season in poor form, and they have not been nearly as dominant as Chelsea in the Conference League.

The Blues should be able to win the final within 90 minutes.

    Under 2.5 goals

Neutrals will hope that the Conference League final is a better game than last week’s Europa League contest between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, but they might be disappointed.

European finals are often cagey affairs given the high stakes and the absence of second chances.

Of the three Conference League showpieces held up to now, only one – West Ham United’s 2-1 victory over Fiorentina – has featured three goals or more.

Consider, too, that this bet would have paid out in four of Chelsea’s last five matches in the Premier League.

One goal may well be enough to win this one.

Nicolas Jackson to score any time

Nicolas Jackson could easily have cost his team towards the end of the Premier League season.

The Senegal international was sent off in Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United on May 11, causing him to miss the final two games through suspension.

The Blues won both of those matches without him but there is no doubt they are a better side with Jackson in the XI.

Whether or not he is the right centre-forward to take Chelsea to the next level is a question for another day.

For now, Jackson is the obvious pick in the anytime scorer market for Wednesday’s Conference League final.
