A Craftsman bungalow in the historic Prospect Park neighborhood of Pasadena is on the market for $3.495 million.

Known as the Louise C. Bentz House after the wife of the Asian arts dealer who commissioned it, this 1906 residence by architects Charles and Henry Greene spans 3,300 square feet. It has five bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Records show the property last traded hands in March 2015 for $2.361 million.

Charles Greene directed the design of the home, described as “one of the most current, intact examples of his residential work,” according to the listing.

The Bentz house rises two stories above the nearly half-acre, wooded and lushly landscaped lot. It was the first house built in the Prospect Park Tract, designated a National Register of Historic Places district — and it, too, is on the registry.

Covered with dark brown shingles and featuring a wraparound porch, the front door opens into an entry hall. The living room, anchored by an original brick fireplace, is to the left. Beyond is the dining room with natural wood board-and-batten wainscoting.

A swing door separates the kitchen and butler’s pantry, which feature original built-in wood cabinetry that has been preserved along with the home’s light fixtures, doors and windows of the era.

The main floor plan also includes a mudroom and a study.

Upstairs, there are five bedrooms, two bathrooms and an original sleeping porch.

The house includes a large attic and a basement with laundry facilities. A rebuilt greenhouse, a rear deck and a detached two-car garage with a workshop round out the offerings.

Shereen Kelly and Jan Thornton of Coldwell Banker Realty share the listing.
