Cult-Favorite Soda Gets Unlikely New Collab That Fans Say Is Delicious

Cheerwine fans can now enjoy the cherry-flavored soda in a whole new way.

The soft drink company teamed up with the makers of another Southern treat, Goo Goo Clusters, on a "nostalgic" and "exciting" limited-edition innovation that made its official debut at the Cheerwine Festival held in the birthplace of the iconic soda brand–Salisbury, North Carolina–last weekend.

The new Cheerwine Goo Goo Cluster takes the nougat and caramel layers found in the Original Goo Goo Cluster and infuses it with the signature Cheerwine cherry flavor before coating the treat in milk chocolate and topping it off with freshly roasted peanuts–a combination that the fan-favorite candy company said results in a "delectable combination of Southern traditions."

"This partnership celebrates two beloved brands in a way that’s both nostalgic and exciting," Joy Ritchie Harper, VP of marketing for Cheerwine, said in a statement. "Cheerwine’s unique cherry flavor pairs perfectly with a variety of foods, including candy. Goo Goo Cluster shares our commitment to crafting exceptional products, and we can’t wait to introduce this to our fans."

According to the brands, the collaboration perfectly pairs their two longstanding legacies that started within five years of each other, with Goo Goo Clusters being five years Cheerwine's senior.

"Goo Goo Cluster and Cheerwine are the perfect pair," Laurie Spradley, president of Goo Goo Cluster, added. "We enjoy any opportunity to celebrate a fellow Southern brand, and by bringing together our legacies, we’ve created something truly unique and delicious."

A second claimed they were obsessed and begged the brands, "Please don’t get rid of them."

"Need to try," one more declared.

According to the official product listing, the new Cheerwine Goo Goo Clusters are available online in a box of three individually wrapped 1.5 oz clusters for $7.99. The new treats will also be sold at the brand’s Nashville flagship, Goo Goo Chocolate Co., the Goo Goo Shop in the Nashville airport, and at select retailers nationwide this summer.
