Ozzy Osbourne is ready to take his final bow in July — and ahead of Black Sabbath's last show ever, his hometown is honoring the band in a big way.
The heavy metal band — who became one of the most influential rock groups in the 1970s — will perform their final show at metal festival and charity event Back to the Beginning on July 5. Held at Park Villa in the band's hometown of Birmingham, England, Osbourne, 76, will first perform his final solo set before joining Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward onstage for their own last performance.
The benefit will raise money for Cure Parkinson's, the Birmingham Children's Hospital and Acorn Children's Hospice. Osbourne revealed his own Parkinson's diagnosis in 2020.
As for how Birmingham plans to celebrate the band ahead of the sold-out show, artist Mr. Murals isn't painting the town red — he's painting it Black (Sabbath).
"The band's influence is everywhere, from metal music to fashion to attitude," Mr. Murals told the BBC in an interview published earlier this week. The mural of the band will not only represent the group, but the creativity of Birmingham, too, he explained.

"That people can stand in front of and feel the energy of Sabbath and of the city itself."
Birmingham has already paid tribute to Osbourne's lengthy career and pop culture influence, naming their famous bull statue "Ozzy" after the rocker.
As for what the Prince of Darkness himself had to say about the band's farewell show, he wrote via Instagram in February:
“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” the "Paranoid" singer wrote at the time. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
