San Diego firefighters were battling three brush fires Saturday evening, including one near Poway that threatened homes.
Crews, the department posted to X at 6:05 p.m., are “currently responding to two vegetation fires in the areas of Poway and Lemon Grove.”
Minutes later, officials said units also were en route to a vegetation fire off state Route 52 and Interstate 15.
The more serious of the blazes is the one in the Sabre Springs and Poway area, according to Watch Duty, a nonprofit fire app. The Springhurst Fire was described as burning in heavy brush and uphill toward homes.
It was first reported at 5:18 p.m. Evacuations were orders for residents on Cobblestone Creek Road, but by 6:30 p.m. forward progress of the flames had been halted, Watch Duty said.
The fire has burned three acres.
