Saturday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day with severe storms expected along the Front Range, Denver metro area and Eastern Plains.

More chances for storms and showers linger in the forecast through the beginning of the workweek. Here's what the Pinpoint Weather team is expecting.

    Timing: Daily storm chances

Chances for storms or showers are forecast daily. The severe storms are likely to develop in the afternoons.

Saturday, a marginal threat for severe storms means large hail, gusty winds and an isolated tornado are possible. Storms will begin to fire up in the metro area around 1-2 p.m.

Going into Sunday morning, there could be some light, spotty showers, then storm chances are active in the Denver metro area in the afternoon again.

Chances for showers remain in the forecast on Monday, but the chance for severe storms is lower. Showers are expected in the afternoon.

Impacts of storms over the holiday weekend

For the storms on Saturday and Sunday, the biggest threats are large hail, gusty winds and the possibility of an isolated tornado.

Pinpoint Weather meteorologist Kylie Bearse said the storms may impact plans, but said it doesn't have to mean canceling plans. She said Coloradans should stay posted on the forecast and if a storm rolls through, head inside and wait for it to pass, then you can probably head back outside after.

Bearse storms Saturday will likely be stronger on the south side of the metro area, particularly around the Palmer Divide. However, the north side of the metro will still see some action at times.
