The North County Transit District launched its NCTD+ on-demand service this week in Vista, following its debut in San Marcos last year.

According to transit officials, the service is available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends within a 7-square-mile area in Vista. This area includes three Sprinter rail stations and 79 Breeze bus stops that connect to key locations throughout the city, such as the Vista Community Clinic, Brengle Terrace Park, Food4Less, and the Boys & Girls Club.

“NCTD is excited to continue to partner with our communities to expand access and create opportunities with innovative public transportation options that are convenient and affordable, like NCTD+,” Transit Chief Executive Officer Lori A. Winfree said in a statement.

Service vehicles are ADA-accessible and seat up to eight passengers. A one-way ride to or from a Sprinter station costs $1.50, and all other destinations within the service area are $3.00. Additional riders on the same booking can be added for just $1.50 per person, with teens 18 and under riding free.

Trips can be booked on the NCTD+ app. Riders without a smartphone can call 760-726-1111 to book a trip.

New riders can get their first trip up to eight people free using the promo code FREERIDE.

The transit district will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Vista Transit Center to celebrate the launch of the new service.
