There is $100,000 out in the wild in the US right now, and there a hunt is underway to capture it and bring it back to its natural habitat.

With such a large amount of cash going round, it is crucial that you check your lottery tickets as the search continues.

Mass Live reports that a $100,000 winning lotto ticket was sold at a gas station in Dalton, Massachusetts on Wednesday.

Officials in the Massachusetts Lottery are now searching for the holder of the ticket.

The winning numbers 19, 20, 22, 23 and 31 were drawn from the May 21 “Mass Cash” game.

If you think you might have the winning ticket, you are advised to make yourself known as soon as you can.

Overall, at least 489 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts the same day the $100,000 ticket was drawn.

This includes 8 in Springfield, 18 in Worcester and 45 in Boston.

So far in 2025, the two largest lottery prizes were each worth $15 million.

One of the prizes was from a winning “Diamond Deluxe” scratch ticket sold in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

The other was from a “300X” scratch ticket sold on Cape Cod.

    ROLLING ON

The US Sun recently reported on a unique lottery story, where the jackpot had rolled over 44 times in its state of South Carolina.

This now makes it the largest rollover lottery prize in the state’s history.

A rollover happens when the initial prize is not won, so it’s rolled into the next week’s cash prize as it gets bigger and bigger.

A prize being rolled over 44 times means that a lot of South Carolina players have been unlucky for a while now.

The ticket is worth $1,132,000 and was sold on Monday in Sumter.

Lottery winnings: lump sum or annuity?

Players who win big on lottery tickets typically have a choice to make: lump sum or annuity?

The two payout methods can impact how much money you get from your prize.

Annuities pay out slowly in increments, often over 30 years.

Lump sums pay all at once but in a smaller amount, as taxes are withheld in one go. That means 24% of your prize goes to Uncle Sam right away. Many states tax winnings as well.

Annuities can provide winners time to set up the financial infrastructure required to take in a life-changing amount of money, but lump sums have the benefit of being taxed only once.

Inflation is also worth considering when making a choice, as payouts do not adjust with the value of a dollar. That means that you’ll likely be getting less valuable money towards the end of an annuity.

Each state and game pays out prizes differently, so it’s best to check with your state’s lottery to confirm payment policies. A financial advisor can also help you weigh the pros and cons of each option.

Experts have varying opinions on whether to take the lump sum or take the annuity.

It was a part of the Palmetto Cash 5 game,, and the ticket matched the numbers 4-7-10-20-30.

The player has 180 from the day of drawing to come forward and claim the cash.

If they don’t, they will lose the chance, along with the cash.

Depending on the day the ticket was drawn, this gives the player roughly until the middle of November this year.
