The Last Anniversary cast, filming locations and episode guide for BBC mystery drama

The secrets of three generations of a family are unearthed when an outsider inherits their property on a remote island.

The Last Anniversary is a comedy-drama with a tangled web of lies to be unravelled.

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty and from the producers of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, the BBC One show stars Teresa Palmer and Miranda Richardson and has been executive produced by Nicole Kidman.

Sue Deeks, head of BBC Programme Acquisition, said: “The Last Anniversary is an entertaining drama full of vivid characters, comedy and romance, with a compelling mystery at its heart – I’m sure BBC viewers will thoroughly enjoy their visit to beautiful Scribbly Gum Island.”

The Last Anniversary is a comedy drama about family, motherhood and the women who define the generations that come after them.

At the heart of the story is also a mystery about an abandoned baby and their parents, who apparently disappeared.

Sophie Honeywell (Teresa Palmer) is a young woman who finds herself drawn into a complex web of family secrets after inheriting a house on a remote island from her ex-boyfriend’s great-aunt Connie.

Set on Scribbly Gum Island, it is a place of many secrets, including one which made it famous – the disappearance of a young couple decades earlier.

It made the island a destination for true crime tourists.

For Sophie, single and approaching 40, the house is the fresh start she’s been craving, despite the unwelcome reception she receives on arrival.

She is particularly intrigued by something else Connie left her – a promise that she may finally find the man of her dreams.
