Rory Gibson is set to make his entrance as Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, and we have a first look at what fans can expect when he shows up at the Nurses' Ball.
In a statement to Parade, a General Hospital spokesperson confirmed that Rory Gibson is stepping into the role of Michael Corinthos, saying, “General Hospital can confirm that Rory Gibson has been cast as Michael Corinthos. We are excited to welcome him to our show. “
He is taking over the role from Emmy winner Chad Duell, who chose to leave earlier this year. Gibson was formerly on The Young & the Restless as Noah Newman, but last appeared in that role in 2023.
Gibson will make his entrance dramatically at the Nurses' Ball, shocking almost everyone there. The first look pictures show him in a tuxedo at the Ball and with Viron Weaver, who plays Michael's young son, Wiley.

Gibson spoke to TV Insider about stepping into the role, saying, “I loved playing Noah, but I do feel a really strong connection to this character of Michael. I feel like he has a lot more at stake and with the storylines that he’s woven into; there’s so much suspense and so much consequence behind all of them. It’s terribly, terribly exciting to play and challenging to play, so I’m feeling very fulfilled in this new role. It’s been very intense, but I’m loving every second of it.”
He also reflected on his time at Y&R, “Oh, I loved it, I really did. Everyone became like family. I still spend quite a lot of time with a lot of my cast members over there. Josh Morrow (Nick Newman), his son Crew (Morrow, Will Spencer, The Bold and the Beautiful), and I go to a movie, like, once a month. He feels like a second dad for me. We’ve become very, very close. And then Cait Fairbanks (Tessa Porter) is one of my best friends in the world. We hang all the time, so I love everyone over there. I had a wonderful time, but I am very excited for this change of scenery and change of pace.”
Gibson debuts on General Hospital on Friday, May 23, 2025. GH airs weekdays on ABC and can be streamed anytime on Hulu.
