ESPN stalwart Stan Verrett is set to leave the broadcaster after 25 years of service.
Verrett joined the network in 2000 and has been ever-presentsince, appearing as an anchor on SportsCenter.
However his time with the broadcaster is coming to an end, Verrett confirmed.
Verrett will leave this summer when his contract ends.
Until then he will anchor the news and highlights program and will appear at stops during SportsCenter’s “50 states in 50 days” promotional run, which begins next month.
Verrett revealed he does not plan to retire after confirming he will leave.
He wrote on X: “My life is in Los Angeles now. Nothing but gratitude for 25 years of living a dream at ESPN.
“I’m not retiring. Really excited about the future and some incredible opportunities. Stay tuned.”
ESPN announced in March they plan to move the SportsCenter offices from LA to their headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut.
Dave Roberts, EVP and executive editor of sports news and entertainment at ESPN, praised Verrett in a statement.
He said: “We’re grateful for Stan’s many contributions and all he has brought to SportsCenter over the years.
“We thank him and wish him continued success.”
Verrett joined the SportsCenter team in 2009 and co-hosted the 1am edition of the show alongside Neil Everett, who retired in 2023.
Before joining ESPN the 58-year-old worked for WDSU-TV as a weekend sports anchor and reporter.
He fulfilled a similar role at ABC affiliate WVEC-TV and NBC affiliate WAVY-TV.
Verrett is also the cousin of former NFL cornerback Jason Verrett.
