If you’ve never heard of cruffins, you’re in for a treat. They’re a cross between a croissant and a muffin, combining the flaky, buttery layers of a croissant with the convenient, handheld shape of a muffin. This particular recipe (which you can get on Maegan's Instagram) leans heavily into savory flavors, with a generous dose of garlic, Parmesan and fresh herbs. They're like garlic bread that got dressed up for a party.

And the best part is that they start with canned crescent rolls, which means you get all the impressive layers without the fuss of making your own dough.

To make these cruffins, start by unrolling the sheet of crescent roll dough and gently pressing it to seal the perforated lines. This step is key because it creates a solid sheet of dough that can hold all the butter and cheese that you’re about to add.

Next, spread most of the butter on the sheet of dough (save a bit of the butter for brushing on top of the baked rolls), sprinkle with a generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese and roll the dough lengthwise into a log.

To create the signature cruffin shape, cut the dough log in half crosswise, then slice each piece of the log in half lengthwise, exposing the layers of dough and the buttery filling. Wrap each dough piece around your finger to form a spiral-shaped roll. This method ensures plenty of exposed edges, which crisp up beautifully in the oven.

Once your cruffins are shaped, they’re nestled into a well-greased muffin tin, brushed with the reserved garlic butter and topped with an extra sprinkle of Parmesan for good measure. They bake for about 25 minutes (rotate them halfway through to ensure even browning), until they're perfectly golden, crispy and flaky.

This is the kind of bread you’ll want to tear into as soon as it hits the cooling rack!
