Tyler, the Creator has reunited with Converse to launch the 1908 Program, which allowed the multi-hyphenate creative to put his visionary twist on the brand’s archival designs.
Tyler’s collection is set to launch on June 20 and features a modern spin on the Naut-1 and the Coach Jogger silhouettes, while still maintaining authenticity to the Converse legacy.
The Naut-1 was a staple of preppy kids’ closets growing up throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Tyler’s gives the boat shoe a fresh coat of paint while bringing his eccentricities to the reimagined Naut-1, which has been splashed with low-top versatility. Colorways include an aqua blue and brown. There’s even a pair with jumping puppy logos, while another is emblazoned with pink flowers.
Tyler the Creator X ConverseAs for the Coach Jogger, which was introduced in 1976 as an Olympic track shoe, Tyler modernizes the classic kicks with a sleek design featuring maroon red, forest green, baby blue and a mix of cream and golden brown colorways.
While global fans can shop the archival series collection on Converse’s website on June 20, Los Angeles natives are in luck, as there will be a 1908 Pop-Up shop in L.A. on June 12 for Cali fans to get a first look at Tyler’s vision.
