The Egyptian Transport Ministry announced ticket prices of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system along the Ring Road.
The BRT is a smart solution to achieve fair pricing, as passengers pay only for the actual distance traveled.
BRT ticket prices:
Five LE for up to four stops. LE 10 for up to nine stops. LE 15 for more than nine stops and up to 14 stops or more.Tickets are set according to a flexible system that takes into account the number of stops passengers make.
BRT operation date
The shuttle bus is scheduled to be operational in July, after the completion of the preparation and trial run phases.
BRT on the Ring Road
The BRT project extends over 110 kilometers along the Ring Road and includes 48 main stops, a central charging station, and three substations. The BRT uses environmentally friendly electric buses equipped with advanced passenger service technologies.
Headway period
BRT has headway of three minutes, reducing to 1.5 minutes during peak times, with approximately 20 buses per hour, ensuring continuous and fast service for passengers throughout the day.
Phase One
The trial operation for the first phase of the BRT project has begun, extending 35 kilometers.
It includes 14 main stops, starting from the intersection of the Ring Road with Alexandria Agricultural Road and ending at the Police Academy Station.
These stops are equipped with modern facilities, including pedestrian tunnels and bridges, ticket booths, and organized waiting areas for passenger comfort.
Phase Two
The second phase is planned to operate before the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in July.
It includes 21 stations extending from Field Marshal Tantawi to the Fayoum Road intersection, passing through the Mariouteya Axis and al-Haram, King Faisal, and Tersa stations.
Phase Three
The third phase of the BRT project includes 13 additional stations extending from the Alexandria Agricultural Road to the Alexandria Desert Road, contributing to the completion of comprehensive coverage of the Ring Road.
Integration with Public Transport
The BRT integrates with the public transport system by connecting to the metro stations in Marg, Zahraa, Adly Mansour, and Imbaba, in addition to connecting to the Light Rail Transit (LRT) at Adly Mansour Station.
This BRT provides a sophisticated new model for urban mass transportation in Egypt.
