MS Dhoni, on Tuesday (May 20), failed to impress with the bat during the game between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The CSK captain came out to bat in the 14th over and had ample time to get set before playing his trademark finishing cameo. However, the former India skipper had a disappointing outing with the bat as he could score only 16 runs off 17 balls.
MS Dhoni's stay at the crease came to an end courtesy a brilliant catch from his former CSK teammate Tushar Deshpande. On the fifth ball of the final over bowled by Akash Madhwal, Dhoni received a low full-toss outside the off stump.

Dhoni made a good connection with the ball and was looking set to get a boundary. However, Deshpande put his hands up just at the right moment to catch the ball out of thin air. The Royals' pacer showed remarkable reflexes to catch the ball and did well to hold on to it.

Talking about the game, CSK recovered from a precarious situation to post a challenging total of 187/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Asked to bat first, the five-time winners lost the wickets of Devon Conway and Urvil Patel for just 12 runs inside 2 overs.
Ayush Mhatre then played a quickfire knock of 43 runs from just 20 balls before being dismissed by Tushar Deshpande in the sixth over. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin were promoted up the order once again, but they failed to impress.
At one stage, CSK found themselves reeling at 78/5 in the 8th over. The Chennai-based outfit was firmly on the backfoot before Dewald Brevis gave the innings some much-needed impetus with a quickfire knock. He hit a flurry of boundaries to race away to 42 runs off just 24 balls before being sent back by Akash Madhwal.
After Brevis' departure, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni shared a crucial 43-run stand for the seventh wicket. CSK eventually finished their innings on 187 runs. For the Rajasthan Royals, Yudhvir Singh and Akash Madhwal impressed with the ball, taking 3 wickets each.
