WNBA star Sophie Cunningham accused of having affair with married Phoenix Suns CEO in extraordinary lawsuit

WNBA star Sophie Cunningham has been named in a lawsuit accusing her of having an affair.

The lawsuit accuses the Indiana Fever player of having an affair with the married CEO of the Phoenix Suns and Mercury.

The lawsuit claims that a senior official told the claimant that Josh Bartelstein, the married CEO, was in a relationship with Cunningham.

Gene Traylor, a current employee of the Suns as director of security, filed the lawsuit in May.

He accused the team of racial discrimination and says the team dismissed his safety concerns which led to breaches.

The lawsuit also alleges that Traylor told Bartelstein that Cornelius Craig, the Vice President of Security and Risk Management, was spreading “damaging information about him that could jeopardize the organization.”

In the suit, Traylor mentions a conversation with Bartelstein in which he claims that Craig was telling people “Josh Bartelstein is f***ing Sophie Cunningham.”

Neither Cunningham nor Bartelstein have made any public comments about the allegations.

The Suns took aim at Traylor’s attorney last week though, firing off on Sheree Wright, who is representing him.

“The Supreme Court of Arizona has twice disciplined attorney Sheree Wright for committing numerous violations of the rules of professional conduct, and she is currently serving a two-year probation with the State Bar of Arizona,” a Suns spokesperson said.

“This time, Ms. Wright and her client have made absurd accusations of misconduct surrounding the security department of the Phoenix Suns.

“These allegations are delusional and categorically false.”

In November of last year, Bartelstein praised his wife’s impact on his life in a Phoenix Mag interview.

“This job is incredibly demanding. It’s the best job ever, but it’s long hours, high-stress and pressure, and public-facing. And I travel a lot,” he said.

“Me and Sydney have done it together, and she’s a huge reason why I love what I get to do.”

Cunningham was traded from the Sun to the Fever this offseason, but has yet to suit up for a game.

An ankle injury sustained in the preseason has kept the Fever’s new star from making her debut.

However, the Fever had no trouble securing their first win of the season without Cunningham on the court.

Caitlin Clark and her teammates absolutely dismantled the Chicago Sky 93-58.

She notched a triple-double in the game, totaling 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists on 46 percent shooting.

Her rivalry with Angel Reese was the highlight of the night though, with a take foul being upgraded to a flagrant sending Reese into a fury.

Clark denied any malicious intent with the foul, and walked away from Reese while the Sky star screamed at her.
