Shedeur Sanders loses out on $44 million after officially signing ‘tiny’ 4-year Cleveland Browns contract

SHEDEUR Sanders officially put pen to paper on his Cleveland Browns contract.

The quarterback signed his four-year contract after being selected by the team in last month’s NFL Draft.

Sanders, 23, was left to count the cost of his dramatic and unexpected slide.

He fell all the way to the fifth round before the Browns eventually selected him No. 144 overall.

As a result, his rookie contract was worth $4.6 million over four years.

Sanders was tipped to be a first-round selection in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Cam Ward was selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans, as widely expected.

And his four-year rookie contract is worth $48.7 million – almost twelve times what Sanders will earn.

Ward’s deal is worth $44 million his Cleveland Browns rival’s.

Jaxson Dart was the second quarterback taken off the draft board.

The New York Giants traded back into the first round to select him 25th overall.

And Dart will earn $16.9 million over four seasons – almost four times Sanders’ salary.

The Browns selected Dillon Gabriel as well in the third round of last month’s NFL Draft.

His rookie contract is worth $6.2 million over four seasons.

Sanders’ earnings are said to be tiny in comparison to his NIL deals in college with the Colorado Buffaloes.

ON3 gave him a NIL valuation of $6.5 million during the 2024 season.

And Sanders’ yearly NFL salary is a fraction of that number.

One fan said, “Would have earned more on an NIL deal in college.”

Another posted, “He made more in college. He should have just stayed.”

While a third said, “His NIL deal was bigger.”

But some fans praised the Browns for taking a chance on Sanders after his fall.

One said, “Might be the best contract ever signed in NFL history. Absolute steal.”

And another commented, “I’d say there’s a pretty good chance they could be asking him for an extension for a lot more money before this contract is finished.

    “What a bargain.”
