Shedeur Sanders makes Cleveland Browns demands clear following first setback of NFL career

SHEDEUR SANDERS has told fans to call him “12” rather than “2” after having to change his jersey number.

The quarterback wore No.2 throughout his time in college at both Jackson State and Colorado.

But he had to switch numbers after being drafted to the Cleveland Browns with veteran DeAndre Carter already owning the jersey.

“Don’t call me two anymore – call me 12,” Sanders said on his livestream during the event.

“If you call me two now, you disrespecting me.”

The 2025 fifth-round pick Sanders will be competing with four other quarterbacks to earn a roster spot this summer.

Sanders is part of a Cleveland Browns quarterback room that includes fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, Joe Flacco, Deshaun Watson, and Kenny Pickett.

But one Browns insider believes that one of those signal-callers has a leg up in the battle for the starting job.

Cleveland.com’sky Kay Cabot thinks Pickett is the current favorite to lead the team’s offense in Week 1 ahead of the Browns’ OTAs and mandatory minicamps.

“It’s a tough call before we’ve even seen the first practice of organized team activities, but I know Kenny Pickett heads in as the frontrunner to win the starting job at the outset,” Cabot wrote.

“He’ll take the initial first-team reps in OTAs and probably the mandatory minicamp, and it seems like it’s his job to try to keep for now.”

Pickett didn’t play regularly with the Philadelphia Eagles last season as he appeared in five contests and completed 59.5 of his passes for 291 yards.

But he was a starter for the previous two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Each of those campaigns saw him throw for over 2,000 yards.

The Browns signed Flacco as a free agent and then traded for Pickett this offseason.

The Browns now have a complicated quarterback situation as they drafted two rookie quarterbacks.

They took Gabriel with the 94th overall pick in the third round of last month’s NFL Draft.

And Sanders was picked with the 144th selection after a brutal slide to the fifth round.
