This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Nancy Zeman.
Zeman is the associate director for programs of the Chapel Hill Carrboro Public Schools Foundation and she is retiring this year after 3 decades of service for our schools. Zeman was already an active volunteer within the schools before she joined the PSF’s board in 1997. In 2015, she joined the staff as the foundation’s program director and she has been supporting public schools and our teachers for the last decade. She has worked hard to find outside awards to further recognize teachers and has written grants to outside agencies to fund programs in the schools. Zeman also co-founded Family Reading Partners in the last few years, which sends outside volunteers into residents’ homes to help build kids’ literacy habits and skills before they begin Kindergarten.
