The 29-year-old Punjab Kings (PBKS) left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar won the Player of the Match award for his heroics in the 59th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Harpreet Brar dedicated the Player of the Match award to his wife, Molly Sandhu, after the match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, May 18.

In the Rajasthan Royals vs Punjab Kings clash, Harpreet Brar displayed a brilliant bowling performance in the second innings to help his team defend the score. He returned with sensational bowling figures of 4-0-22-3 and had an excellent economy of 5.50.
Brar opened his account by dismissing the explosive RR opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi on the fifth ball of the 5th over. He bowled a full ball to the youngster, who tried to go down the ground, but got a leading edge, and the ball went into the hands of Xavier Bartlett.
Then, he dismissed another opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, on the fourth ball of the 8th over. He bowled a full and wide ball from around the wicket to Jaiswal, who looked to go over long-off but got it off the toe end of the bat and was caught by Mitchell Owen.
He also removed Riyan Parag on the second ball of the 13th over to complete a three-wicket haul. Brar bowled a length ball to Parag, who tried to smash it on the on-side but got castled in the process.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Harpreet Brar dedicated his Player of the Match award to his wife in a heartwarming gesture.
He also revealed his chats with the head coach, Ricky Ponting, saying that he has told him that a leftie can always dismiss the left-handed batter. He said:
"I am feeling really good. I would like to dedicate this award to my wife as it is my first after marriage. We practice a lot against the left handers, Ponting Sir has told us that a leftie can get a leftie out. I have worked on that, I knew they would come after me but I backed to bowl to my strengths."
Brar further said that he followed the simple game plan of not giving boundaries to the RR batters. He stated:
"The way the wicket was playing and they were batting, the plan was to not give a boundary or give them an easy balls."

Harpreet Brar also said that the PBKS spin-bowling coach, Sunil Joshi, has helped him get better and taught him numerous things. He asserted:
"I have been with Sunil (Joshi) Sir for a long time, I have learned a lot, he's taught me how to use the crease, how to read the batter and the wicket."
Brar, in the end, expressed delight over bowling alongside the star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the Punjab Kings. He said:
"After Chahal's arrival I thought it would be easy to bowl with him, I didn't get an opportunity at the start but cricket is a funny game, I always thought once I get an opportunity I will grab it."
