With the FA Cup Final in full swing, Prince William showed just how seriously he takes his role as Patron of the Football Association.
On Saturday, May 17, the Prince of Wales attended the 2025 Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in London, where he fulfilled his duties as Patron of the Football Association. A role he officially took on in July 2024, William appeared in his element as he presented the prestigious trophy to Crystal Palace, who claimed their first major trophy in history after a thrilling match.
The Emirates FA Cup Final, one of the oldest and most prestigious national soccer events, saw the prince shake hands with players from both teams and join in the post-game celebrations.
In a recap video shared on Instagram that same day, Prince William and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, congratulated Crystal Palace on their shared account on the historic victory. “He’s not a regular prince, he’s a cool prince,” one fan wrote in the comments.
“Prince William you are doing a marvelous job. Your mummy would be so proud of you,” another fan declared.

This appearance follows months of tension within the royal family and comes just a day after the eldest son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana took over another important title. On Friday, May 16, the father-son duo attended the Order of the Bath Service at Westminster Abbey, celebrating the order's 300th anniversary. This marked King Charles' first service as monarch.
During the event, Prince William, 42, took on the title of Great Master of the Order, a role previously held by the King in 1975. The ceremony also included the installation and oath-taking of five knights, with both royals photographed at the historic event.
