Doncaster Rovers have announced that Tom Anderson will leave after spending seven years at the club.
The defender first joined Rovers in 2018 when he signed on loan from boyhood club Burnley before his move was made permanent.
Anderson made 29 appearances in their 2024/25 League Two title win and featured 251 times in total across all competitions.
His contract was expiring in June and Doncaster revealed that they offered him a new two-year deal with the option of 12 extra months.
However Anderson, who has been the club’s longest-serving player, rejected the offer and won’t be with them next season.
The 31-year-old will instead remain in League Two having agreed to sign for Shrewsbury Town on a two-year contract.
“It’s great to be here – the last few days have been really smooth,” he said in the club’s announcement.
“I first heard about the contract on Monday. We did a bit of negotiating, but I was delighted to get it over the line and done quickly.
“I had a great time at Doncaster, but everything comes to an end.
“I spoke to Michael [Appleton, head coach] and Micky [Moore, director of football] and their ambitions for the season match mine.
“They have both told me to come in and be the player I am. It was refreshing to hear their ambitions.
“That’s what you want when you get a new challenge. When you are working as a team, you want to all be on the same page and that is what we are.”

Rovers won four of their last five fixtures and hadn’t lost since the beginning of March.
But their long-term defender will not be joining them in League One for the 2025/26 campaign.
He will play for a Shrewsbury side who were relegated from the third tier by finishing bottom and 14 points adrift of safety.
