Warriors eliminated after Game 5 loss to Minnesota Timberwolves

(KRON) -- The Golden State Warriors' season is over after a 121-110 Game 5 loss to the Timberwolves in Minnesota. The Warriors lost the Western Conference semifinals 4-1.

Game 5 was going to be an uphill battle for Golden State who were once again without their best player, Stephen Curry. The Dubs lost four straight contests after Curry's injury in Game 1.

After being down as many as 25 points late in the third quarter, a spirited Warriors squad cut the Timberwolves' lead to 9 points with about seven minutes left in the game.

Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors with 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting. Off the bench, Jonathan Kuminga added 26 points.

For the Timberwolves, Julius Randle led the home team with 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting. Anthony Edwards scored 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting.

The comeback attempt fell short, and the Warriors' season is over. Curry's bid for a Game 6 return on Sunday now goes out the window.
