Person killed in shooting near Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO – A person was killed in a shooting Wednesday afternoon near Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, police said.

A suspect was in custody, the San Francisco Police Department said in a news release.

    The shooting was reported around 1:10 p.m. near Columbus Avenue and North Point Street. Police said the suspect shot the victim inside of their car and left the area.

    Officers found the victim’s car parked near Leavenworth and Beach streets. The victim was sitting in the driver’s seat and suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

    The victim received emergency medical aid but was pronounced dead at the scene.

    While investigating the shooting, officers learned the suspect had turned himself in at the Central Police Station, police said. Neither the suspect nor the victim was identified Wednesday.

    “This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” police said in the release.
