Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi may have relocated to the U.K., but they’re clearly not ready to part with all their U.S. real estate just yet.The famed host made an unexpected move in real estate, recently pulling her $30 million Los Angeles home off the market just months after relocating overseas with her wife.
In March 2024, DeGeneres, 67, and de Rossi, 52, listed their iconic "Brown House" for $33.9 million. But, the apparent shift in plans raises questions about whether the couple may be holding onto a piece of U.S. real estate after their move to the Cotswolds, a rural area of England near London.
Known for its modernist design and expansive features, the L.A. home was originally built in 1955. It underwent a meticulous restoration that preserved architect Richard Neutra’s vision while integrating modern luxuries. DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased the property in 2022 for $29 million, according to Realtor.com.
The couple relocated in November 2024 after selling a Santa Barbara property for $96 million. Their new property includes rolling hills, a pond, and even some chickens, which the former TV personality has shared with fans on Instagram.
Earlier this month, the comedian posted a video on Instagram showing off a new look, swapping her signature side-swept blonde hair for a dark brown cut which caught the attention of some fans. In the clip, Degeneres is struggling to ride a lawnmower on her new property, eventually listing a farm hand to help push it. “Portia thought it would be fun to film my first time on the mower. She was right," she captioned the post.
